Fohr Freshman Class: Campus Week

Nov 21, 2018

Fohr Freshman Class launched in early October to help us highlight some of the industry’s most exceptional (yet underrated) content creators. Out of over 1600 applicants, we narrowed it down to 85 finalists, and finally to just 10 influencers.

These individuals represent the underrepresented: from Chandler, Arizona, to Brighton, United Kingdom—they emanate positivity for bodies and for age, offer insight on intersectional feminism, motherhood, and menswear, and all-around create amazing content from their unique and inimitable perspectives.

Last week, we flew them out to NYC for Campus Week: a few days of learning sessions and networking opportunities. For the full back-to-school experience, they each stayed with a roommate at the chicest dorm rooms ever provided by our friends at Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown.

We kicked off Campus Week with a Welcome Dinner at CUT by Wolfgang Puck. The Class of 2018 got to know each other, their mentors, and a few folks from Fohr. It’s safe to say each course was well enjoyed.

Thursday was the big day. To start it off right, the Class of 2018 attended a Wellness Activation at The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown. There were crystals, sound baths, and inevitable snoring from all the relaxation.

The Class then met up with their mentors over lunch at Cafe Select. They dined, they drank, they shared their experiences and goals.

We met back up at Fohr HQ for more learning sessions and Class of 2018 portraits (coming soon!) by Jacob Pritchard @jacobpritchard. Fohr CEO James Nord and VP Grace Murray took our influencers all through the business of influence, covering things like proper email communication.

Then the Class of 2018 ventured on a surprise trip to Instagram New York. They learned a lot, shot each other’s pictures, and had sweet, delicious gelato.

Thank you again to Kristie Dash @kristiedash, Beauty and Lifestyle Partnerships at Instagram, who was kind enough to show us around and participate in some much-needed mythbusting. (For starters, there’s no such thing as “shadow-banning”.)

The day ended with the Recognition Ceremony + Party at Paul’s Cocktail Lounge at the Roxy Hotel Tribeca. Despite the unexpected bout of snow, brands and influencers alike turned out, mingled, and danced the night away to music by Vikas Sapra @vikassapra.

We heard words from Valerie Eguavoen @onacurve and Fohr CEO James Nord about the background behind the program, as well as impromptu speeches from Class of 2018 influencers Destin and Denisse.

Finally, instead of caps and gowns, the class graduated with the chicest custom varsity jackets.

Cheers to a memorable first-ever Fohr Freshman Class!
